Only XP100 is ethanol-free. The other "premium" fuels are higher octane but still contain ethanol.

Can you still buy pure petrol or E10 in India?

Not as regular fuel. Since April 2025, E20 is the standard petrol nationwide, and in July 2026 the government ruled out selling E10 or pure petrol alongside it. The only ethanol-free option left is IndianOil XP100 (100 octane), sold at a premium at limited outlets.

Availability changes often. Our city list is a guide based on public reports, not a live feed. Always confirm on the IndianOil ONE app before you drive out - it has the official XP100 outlet locator.

Is XP100 worth the extra cost?

For everyday commuter vehicles, higher octane rarely improves mileage enough to justify a ~₹60/litre premium. It can make sense for performance engines or peace of mind on a cherished older vehicle. Run the numbers with our E20 vs XP100 calculator.
