E20 Mileage & Cost Calculator
Wondering what E20 really costs you? Enter a few details and see the extra spend in rupees - per month, per year, and over five years.
How this calculator works
Ethanol contains less energy per litre than petrol, so E20 can lower your fuel economy slightly. The calculator compares how many litres you'd burn at your normal mileage versus your reduced E20 mileage, then multiplies the extra litres by your local petrol price:
Extra cost = (litres on E20 − litres before) × petrol price
What number should I use for the drop?
- 1–6% - the range ARAI reported in official testing of compatible vehicles.
- ~10% or more - commonly reported by owners of older (pre-2023) vehicles in independent surveys.
- Your own figure - the most accurate. Note your km/l on a full tank before and after, and use the difference.
This is an estimate. Real mileage depends on driving style, traffic, tyre pressure, AC use, load and servicing - not fuel alone.
