Know your standing

Your complaint has real standing — here's why

This isn't just venting. As of July 2026, amid a nationwide conversation about E20, the government's own position actually strengthens a factual, well-documented complaint.

Mileage drop is officially acknowledged

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has acknowledged E20 can reduce fuel economy by about 3–5% in some vehicles (official FAQ, July 2026).

Warranty damage must be repaired

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that if a vehicle is damaged during the warranty period, the manufacturer/dealer will repair it, and invited owners with a genuine problem to bring it to his notice.

You can escalate to consumer court

Dissatisfied consumers can approach the consumer court. Getting mileage checked on an authorised dealer's diagnostic machine gives you a written report that is strong evidence.

Keep it factual and polite, attach bills, odometer photos and any dealer report, and always note the docket / reference number you get. A calm, evidence-backed complaint gets action; an angry one gets ignored.

This tool drafts a template for your convenience and summarises publicly reported statements. Review and edit before sending. KnowYourFuel.in is independent and not affiliated with any government body, oil company or manufacturer.
